1. Iz  zero  a  rational  number ? Can  you  write  it  in  the  form  p/q  , where  p  and  q  are  integers and q ≠ 0 ? [শূন্যটো পৰিমেয় সংখ্যা হয়নে ? ইয়াক p/q আৰ্হিত ( ইয়াত p , q অখণ্ড  সংখ্যা আৰু q ≠ 0 প্ৰকাশ কৰিব  পাৰিনে ? ]

Solution : Yes  , zero  is  a  rational  number  because  we  can  write  it  in  the  form  of p/q where  p  and  q  are  integers  and q ≠ 0 .

Example :  0/1 , 0/2 , 0/3 etc . 

[হয় , 0 এটা পৰিমেয়  সংখ্যা  কাৰণ আমি  0 ক  p/q  আকৃতিত  লিখিব পাৰো  য'ত p  আৰু  q  অখণ্ড সংখ্যা আৰু  q ≠ 0  ৷ 

যেনেঃ 0/1 , 0/2 , 0/3 ইত্যাদি ৷ ]

2. Find six rational numbers between  3  and  4 .[3 আৰু  4 ৰ মাজত থকা ছটা পৰিমেয় সংখ্যা উলিওৱা ৷]

Solution :  

\[3=\frac{3}{1}=\frac{3\times 10}{1\times 10}=\frac{30}{10}\]

\[4=\frac{4}{1}=\frac{4\times 10}{1\times 10}=\frac{40}{10}\]

 so , the six rational numbers between 3  and  4  are 

\[\frac{31}{10} , \frac{32}{10}, \frac{33}{10}, \frac{34}{10},\frac{35}{10},\frac{36}{10}\]

3. Find  five  rational numbers  between  3/5 and  4/5 .[3/5  আৰু  4/5 ৰ  মাজত থকা পাঁচটা পৰিমেয় সংখ্যা উলিওৱা ৷]

Solution :

\[\frac{3}{5}=\frac{3\times 10}{5\times 10}=\frac{30}{50}\]

\[\frac{4}{5}=\frac{4\times 10}{5\times 10}=\frac{40}{50}\]

so , the five rational numbers between 3/5 and 4/5 are 

\[\frac{31}{50} , \frac{32}{50}, \frac{33}{50}, \frac{34}{50},\frac{35}{50}\]

4. State  whether  the following  statements  are true  or  false  .  Give  reasons  for  your  answers.[তলৰ উক্তিসমূহ সঁচানে মিছা লিখা ৷ উত্তৰ সমূহৰ  সমৰ্থনত যুক্তি  উল্লেখ কৰিবা ৷ ]

(i) Every  natural  number is  a whole  number .[প্ৰতিটো স্বাভাৱিক সংখ্যাই এটা পূৰ্ণ সংখ্যা ]

Solution : Yes  every  natural  number  is  a whole  number  because  all the  natural  numbers  are  inlcuded  in the group  of  whole number . 

Examples : 1 , 2, 3  are natural  numbers which are  included  in  the group  of whole number. 

[হয় , প্ৰতিটো  স্বাভাৱিক সংখ্যা এটা পূৰ্ণ  সংখ্যা কাৰণ  প্ৰতিটো  স্বাভাৱিক সংখ্যা পূৰ্ণ সংখ্যাত অন্তৰ্ভূক্ত  হৈ  থাকে ৷ উদাহৰণঃ 1 ,2 , 3  আদি  স্বাভাৱিক সংখ্যাবোৰ পূৰ্ণ সংখ্যাৰ  গোটত  অন্তৰ্ভূক্ত  হৈ থাকে ৷]

(ii) Every  integer  is  a whole  number .[প্ৰতিটো অখণ্ড  সংখ্যাই এটা পূৰ্ণ  সংখ্যা ]

Solution : No , every  integer  is  not  a whole  number  because  there  are  negative  natural numbers  e.g., -1 , -2, -3,.. in the group  of  integer  which  are  not  included  in the group  of  whole  number .[মিছা , কাৰণ প্ৰতিটো অখণ্ড  সংখ্যা পূৰ্ণ সংখ্যাত  সোমাই  নাথাকে ]

(iii) Every  rational  number  is  a whole  number . [প্ৰতিটো পৰিমেয় সংখ্যাই  এটা পূৰ্ণ সংখ্যা]

Solution : No , every  rational  number  is  not  a  whole  number  e.g,. 2/3  is  not  a whole  number .[ মিছা , কাৰণ 2/3 এটা অখণ্ড  সংখ্যা নহয় ৷ ]
