THE LOST
CHILD
1. What are
the things the
child sees on
his way to the fair
? why does
he lag behind ?
Ans : On the
way to the
fair the child
sees the flowering
mustard – fields and dragon -
flies, butterflies and
bees flying there . He
also sees little
insects and worms
along the footpath
that were teeming
out to enjoy
sunshine . He sees a
shower of flowers
and the doves
that flew b to the
banyan tree . He
tries to collect
the petals of
the flowers and so
he lags
behind.
2. In
the fair he
wants many things . What are they
? Why does
he move on
without waiting for
an answer ?
Ans : In the
fair many things
attracted the child.
He wanted many
of them . At
first he wanted
to eat a
burfi . Then he
wanted to buy
a garland. After that b he
wanted to buy
colourful balloons . he
also liked the
music of
the snake charmer.
But he moved
on without waiting
to have any
response from his
parents because he
knew that his
parents would never
buy him those
things. Finally he wanted
to go to
the round about.
3. When
does he realize that
he has lost
his way ? How
have his anxiety
and insecurity been
described ?
Ans : The boy
wanted to go
on the round
about and boldly
made his request
to his parents . At this moment
he realized that he
had lost his
way because he
did not see
any of them
getting no reply
the boy turned to
look at his
parents but could
not find them .
he looked here
and there and
his throat went
dry in fear. His
body
trembled. He began
to shout b, “father, mother! “ he
ran to places
looking for them
and his clothes
became muddy. He began
to weep bitterly
because he felt
insecured.
4. Why
does the lost
child lose interest
in the things
that he had
wanted earlier ?
Ans : When the
child was with
his parents he
was happy he
felt secured .so
he bad interest
in many things
like burfi balloon
garland etc. But when
he lost his
parents he became
a lost child
and at the
same time he
lost interest in
these material things . His
primary hankering was to find
his parents . Without
parents those things were
completely valueless. So the
lost child lost
interest in the
things he wanted
to have earlier.
5. What
do you think
happens in the
end ? Does the
child find his
parents ?
Ans : It seems
in the end the
child finds his
parents . He becomes extremely tired . Many
people find the
child sobbing bitterly
and they also
search the child’s
parents . As it
is a village
fair it cannot
be very difficult to
reunite the child
with his parents
obviously his parents
are also looking
for him . Though
it may take
time it will
not be impossible
for the parents
to get the
child back.
