was a familiar

the doctor hear ?

think it was

Ans : The doctor
heard the sound
made by the
rats . he heard
the sound from
above three times
. first when he
entered the room,
second when he
parted his hair
and finally when
he decided to
have a smile
all the time. As
a snake entered the
sound stopped.
2. What two “
important” and “
earth - shaking” decisions
did the doctor
take while he
was looking into
the mirror ?
Ans : The important
decision was that
he would grow
a thin moustache
to look handsome.
The earth shaking
decision was that
he would always
keep a smile on
his face.
3. “I
looked into mirror
and smiled “ says the
doctor. A little later
he says, “
what is the
doctor’s opinion about
himself when : (i) he
first smiles and
(ii) he smiles
again ? In
what way do his thoughts
change in between,
and why ?
Ans : The doctor’s
opinion about himself
when he first
smiled was that he
looked handsome in
his smile. But
a little later
when he was
in severe danger
he smiled feebly
because he was
in a pitiable
condition. His thoughts changed
in between because
he was danger
free in the
first place but
was in real
danger later.
