I.                    Answer   the  following   questions.
1.       “I  got  him  for  her  by  accident”
(a)    Who  says  this ?

Ans : The  author  says  this.

(b)   Who  do  ‘him’ and  ‘her’ refer  to ?

Ans: “Him “ refers   to  the  baby  bear  and  ‘her’  to  the   author’s  wife.

(c)    What  is  the  incident   referred   to  here ?

Ans: The  incident   referred   to  here   is  how  the  author   caught   the  bear  after   its   mother  had  been  shot.

2.       “He  stood  on  his  head  in  delight”
(a)    Who  does  ‘he’ refer  to ?

Ans :  ‘He’  refers  to  the  baby   bear.

(b)   Why  was  he  delighted ?

Ans  : He  was  delighted   to  see  the  author’s   wife  after   a  long  gap.

3.       “We  all  missed  him  greatly;  but  in  a  sense  we  were   relieved”
(i)                   Who   does  ‘we  all’ stand  for?

Ans : We  all’ stands   for  the  family  members  and  friends   of   the  author.   

(ii)                Who   did  they  miss  ?

Ans: They   missed  Baba   the  baby  bear.  

(iii)               Why   did  they   nevertheless   feel   relieved ?

Ans:  They  nevertheless   felt  relieved   because   the  bear  had  grown   big  and   it  was   not  easy   to  keep  him  at  their  residence.

II.                  Answer   the  following  questions  in  30  to  40 words  each.
1. On   two   occasions  Bruno  ate/ drank  something  that   should   not  be  eaten /  drunk. What  happened  to   him  on  these   occasions?

Ans :  In  the  first  case  Bruno  ate  barium  carbonate   kept   to  kill  rats. Paralysis   occurred   to  him  and  he  was   taken  to  vet’s  place. Medicine  was  injected  and  he  got  well.  Again  he  drank   engine   oil  but  it  did  him  no  harm.

2. Was  Bruno  a  loving  and  playful  pet  ?  Why,  then  did  he  have  to  be  sent  away?

Ans : Yes,  Bruno  was   a  loving  and  playful  pet.  But  it  had  to  be   sent   away   because  it  had  grown  big  and  it  was  difficult  to  keep  him  at  home.

3.How  was  the  problem  of  what  to  do  with Bruno   finally  solved ?

Ans : They  brought   Bruno  home  and  had  to  make  a  special   arrangement  for  him .  they  made  an  island  surrounded  by  dry  pit  of  six  feet  wide  and  seven  feet  deep. There  Bruno  was  placed.
