packing. He wanted

and opted for

relax . but Jerome

pleased to see

him. It is quite natural
for the part
of a dog
like Montmorency to
be a real
nuisance. It is his
inborn sin.

best or worst
packer ? support your

Ans : Of the
three, Jerome was best
and Harris was
the worst packer. Jerome packer. Jerome felt
pride in himself
regarding the skill
of packing. But
it has been
that he too ,
was not a
good packer, he
forgot to pack
necessary things but
committed mistake in
case of his
tobacco - pouch. He
was confused whether
he packed his
toothbrush. He had
to open and
shut the bag
again and again.
George and Harris
started packing the
hamper. Piles of things
are seen. They
broke cup and stepped
on things .they put
light things at
the bottom and heavy
things on them .
tomatoes were squashed.
George trod on
the butter and
then they began
to look for
it everywhere. They
upset almost everything.
2. How did Montmorency ‘contribute’ to the packing ?
Ans : Montmorency, the
dog was real
nuisance. It was
his target to make
people mad by
coming in the
way and being sworn
at. It came and
sat down on
things to be
packed. It put its
leg into the
jam and disordered
the spoons. It
pretended to have
seen rats in
the hamper and
killed three of
them which were
really lemons. Harris
struck the dog
with the frying
pan.
3. Do you find this story funny ? what are the humorous elements in it ?
Ans : In
fact, the story
is funny . all
the characters create
fun while packing . Even the dog
contributes to it
. the
story is full
of humorous elements.
Harris sits on
the butter and
it gets stuck
to him . they look
for it every
where secondly, the
tomato is squashed
by the weight
of heavy things
on it .
thirdly, the dog
takes the lemons
for rats and
disorders everything and Harris
strikes it with
the frying –pam.
